The Thudichum Medal

The Thudichum Medal honoured eminent scientists who made outstanding contributions to neurochemistry and related subjects.

The Thudichum Medal was retired in 2023 and is no longer open for nominations. Thudichum Medal Lectures were inaugurated in 1974 to honour eminent scientists who have made outstanding contributions to neurochemistry and related subjects. Professor J.L.W.Thudichum (1829-1901) was a pioneer of brain chemistry over a century ago.

From 2015, the Thudichum Medal Lectures honoured eminent scientists who have made outstanding contributions to neuroscience and related subjects.

The recipient of the award was given:

  • The Thudichum Medal
  • £2000 prize money
  • The opportunity to present a lecture at a Society event
  • The opportunity to submit an article to a Society-owned publication
