Sponsorship for events

Single lectures and small events

Sponsored Event Grants provide sponsorship of up to £500 to assist with the independent organisation of single lectures or small events such as postgraduate research days.

Our Sponsored Event grants are available to support both face-to-face and virtual meetings. We’ve previously funded travel bursaries for students and ECRs to attend, travel and accommodation for keynote speakers, consumables and worksheets, and more!

We particularly welcome applications for events that are cross-institutional and regional, and student-focused. All funding sought should be used to support the science and cannot be used to cover catering or venue costs.

Please note that this fund does not support events for school students, which are covered under Scientific Outreach Grants.

Next deadline

1 January 2023 for events taking place after 1 February

To be eligible to apply:

  • Applicants must be a current Postgraduate, Early Career, Full, or Emeritus member of the Biochemical Society.
  • Your event should take place at least one month after the deadline.

As a condition of the grant, the Society asks the recipient to:

  • Badge the event, session, or speaker as ‘sponsored by the Biochemical Society’
  • Display Biochemical Society branded material, which will be provided
  • Send a report for consideration for publication in The Biochemist and/or on the web, including photographs.

Applications are considered four times a year, the deadlines for which are:

Early applications are encouraged to allow for the review process to take place ahead of the start of the event.

Please note we aim to send round the outcome of applications three to four weeks after the deadline of the round that has been applied to.
