Event - Webinar
Online
CRispR is a powerful and widely used tool. However, there are subtle variations in approaches depending on the target organism and purpose. In this webinar, we will hear from Dr Annie Godwin from the University of Portsmouth, who will discuss the range of approaches used by the European Xenopus Resource Centre to create transgenic frog lines.

R for Biochemists 101 is the Biochemical Society’s original R course, aimed to equip researchers with the information, tools and techniques to use R. It is suited to beginners who want to use this programming software but have little or no experience. The course will focus on getting data into R, and manipulating and visualising this using various methods. Each module will use a biochemical experiment and data as a starting point.
The webinar is part of our dedicated Biochemistry Focus Early Career Researcher (ECR) series. During this session we will hear from three ECR members of the Society who will share their developments in the Immune System and Immunotherapies.
Event - Online training
R for Biochemists 201 is the Biochemical Society’s second R course, building on the content of R101 for those wishing to extend and develop their knowledge of R. The course has a focus on proteomic data analysis and uses modern data analysis concepts, packages and visualisations.
Event - In-person Training
UK
This training event will discuss strategies to engineer sufficiently pure, homogenous and high-quality recombinant proteins that are critical for subsequent structural and functional studies. It will cover the latest bioinformatic tools for construct design and protein characterisation, tips and tricks for improving protein expression, purification, stability and evaluating quality with biophysical techniques.
Practical Python for beginners: a Biochemist’s guide aims to teach the core skills which underlie the application of Python to complex, real-world research problems.
Event - Scientific meeting
Hybrid
The SBUK 2022 scientific meeting will explore the state-of-the-art in the field, new and emerging opportunities across a range of scientific disciplines and application areas.
Event - Harden Conference
The event will bring together the ever-growing community of kinases and pseudokinases researchers, providing a platform for sharing the latest developments and an opportunity to foster new collaborations. The conference will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first protein kinase structure (Knighton et al, Science 1991).
Exciting breakthroughs in the past few years mean that this field is advancing more rapidly than ever before. The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for researchers to discuss how genomes are organised by protein complexes containing SMC proteins.
AMPK is a part of a family of AMPK-related kinases that are also attracting significant interest for their roles in multiple cellular processes. This meeting is the 5th in a biennial series of European meetings that have previously been held in Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
This conference will bring together researchers working on basic molecular and cellular processes of nutrition, its impact in metabolism, with researchers identifying interventions to improve age-related health
This conference will gather renowned experts to highlight recent advances in understanding the molecular mechanisms of small G protein function. In this meeting we will discuss research covering all five families of small G proteins, to generate new ideas, collaborations and scientific strategies from diverse inputs.
