Biochemistry Focus Webinar Series

60 minutes

This webinar is part of our dedicated Early Career Researcher (ECR) series and features presentations from Early Career Researchers working in the field of signalling.

Dr Andrew Holding (University of York) talks about his research into steroid hormone receptor signalling in breast cancer and related diseases, looking specifically at the Glucocorticoid Receptor and its regulators.

Dr Tanya Soliman (Barts Cancer Institute, QMUL) presents her work on the Aurora B kinase, a key regulator of mitosis, that she has used as model to demonstrate that combinatorial activation loop phosphorylation has profound functional consequences.

Dr Dave Boucher (University of York) details his research into the non-canonical inflammasome, which specialises in recognising Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from Gram negative bacteria, and will outline how the pathway is believed to be responsible for LPS-mediated septic shock.

Dr Thanh Nguyen (Monash University) presents on his analyses of autophagosome formation, which have shown a novel Atg8-independent function of the Atg4 family in regulating autophagosome biogenesis during PINK1/Parkin mitophagy.

This webinar is chaired by Dr Amy Lewis, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Queen Mary University of London and a member of the Biochemical Society Early Career Advisory Panel.
